Vaping

New vaping laws in South Australia.

In South Australia, vaping is prohibited in well-known outdoor areas as of March 1st, and violators face increased fines.
On March 1, the boundaries of no-vaping areas will be extended to encompass outdoor swimming pools, kid-friendly athletic events, beaches close to patrol flags, jetties, outside retail centre entrances, childcare facilities, schools, and hospitals.
Individuals who are seen smoking or vaping in prohibited outdoor areas risk fines of up to $750 if they are prosecuted, in addition to $105 in spot fines.
After much deliberation, the new regulations were implemented to safeguard the public from passive exposure to vape inhalants and tobacco smoke.
The newly forbidden outdoor areas for vaping consist of:
In outdoor swimming pools accessible to the public, and within ten metres of the entrance
On beaches that are five metres from jetties and between and within fifty metres of patrol flags
At and within ten metres of child care facilities and schools
at and within ten metres of the entrances to non-residential buildings, such as retail establishments, office buildings, and government buildings
In private hospitals, public hospitals, and health institutions, as well as within ten metres of their borders
At significant event locations designated by the Major Events Act of 2013 and
At organised under-18 sporting events, at and within 10 metres of the playing and viewing areas.
