Australia’s vape regulations will be the ‘toughest in the world’, says Health Minister

According to the Health Minister, Australia is about to enact the strictest vaping legislation globally, which will include import prohibitions on disposable vapes that contain nicotine before the end of the month.

The health minister announced that a new programme that would be phased in starting in January 2024 will begin with a single rule that will allow state police and health officials to enforce a ban on the importation of any e-cigarettes, with the exception of pharmaceutical items used as a smoking cessation assistance.

The world health minister told ABC that we were about to adopt some of the strictest restrictions yet.

By the end of this year, most likely next month, we will implement an import restriction that will forbid the import of any disposable vape pens and any other vape pens that do not meet those requirements.

It happened after importers tried to smuggle in goods that were later discovered to contain nicotine, leading Australian Border Force officials to seize about 35 tonnes of vaping products last week.

In one of the largest smoking reform announcements in ten years, the government declared in May that non-prescription vaping goods would not be allowed to be imported.

The regulations stipulate that the only vapes that can be lawfully imported into Australia are medicinal items that are prescribed by medical professionals and supplied through pharmacies to aid in quitting.

The packaging and tastes available for medicinal vapes will be strictly restricted under new regulations, which may also expand the prohibition on smoking in workplaces to include vaping.

According to the health minister, he met with colleagues in the field last week to address serious concerns regarding the millions of youths who would probably experience withdrawal symptoms from nicotine due to the impending prohibitions.

Cancer Victoria released research in June that shows that over 3.5 million Australians who are 14 years of age or older either smoke or vape.

It’s driving people insane that this is the most common behavioural problem in school communities across the nation, if not the entire world. He claimed that it’s making parents insane.
